Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and planets. Players build spacecraft, space stations, planetary stations of various sizes and uses (civilian and military), pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive. Presenting both creative modes and survival, there is no limit for what can be built, used and exploited.

Space Engineers features a realistic physics-based volumetric engine: everything in the game can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed. The game can be played in either single or multiplayer modes.

Volumetric objects are structures composed of block-like modules interconnected in a grid. Volumetric objects behave like real physical objects with mass, inertia, and velocity. Individual modules have the actual volume and storage capacity.

Space Engineers is inspired by reality and the way things work. Think of modern NASA technology extrapolated 60 years into the future. Space Engineers strives to follow the laws of physics and does not use technologies that would not be feasible in the near future.

Space Engineers focuses on aspects of construction and exploration, but can be played as a survival shooter as well. We hope players will avoid engaging in direct man-to-man combat and move on to using their creativity and engineering skills to build war machines and fortifications to survive in space and on the planets. Space Engineers should not be about troops; should be about the machines you build.
